Formerly an apartment tower built in 1959, The Mondrian is a Sunset Strip landmark building. The 14-story building went through a major remodel in 2008, receiving a complete renovation of all. 246 guestrooms. Included in the renovation were all new walls, ceilings, bathrooms, finishes as well as major upgrades to the electrical, plumbing and fire life safety systems. While under construction, the renovations were executed no a floor-by-floor basis that allowed only five floors to be out of service at any given time.
The clean, simple design of the new Lobby Bar features sleek lacquered white cabinets in the daytime, which unfold into a polished bronze mirror when opened at night,creating a jewel box-like effect. The striking white stone bar completes the fresh, streamlined look, which is offset by a cozy seating nook dressed in purple to evoke the California sunset.
